Beyond the life-cycle carbon

Zero carbon building, Performance standard, Version 2, Published by the Canada Green Building Council in March 2021, defines beyond the life-cycle carbon as ‘Emissions or emissions savings from the reuse or recycling of building materials at the end of life, or emissions avoided through energy capture by using end of life materials as fuel (life-cycle stage D). Beyond the life-cycle carbon may be evaluated as part of a life-cycle assessment, however, it is not included in the definition of embodied carbon.’
